Seafarer Medicals

Domestic and international seafarers require a current and valid maritime medical certificate relevant to their role, vessel and application.

Our Maritime Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP) can provide assessment and issuance of Medical Certificates for STCW, STCW-F, National, and Ring-Fenced seafarers for both Maritime New Zealand and Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

We are also approved to conduct pre-employment (PEME) and returning crew (REME) cruise line medicals for all the main groups including the Royal Caribbean Group, Norwegian Cruise Line, Carnival Cruises, and Princess Cruises.

    • Issuance of STCW, National & Ring-fenced Certificates

    • Seafarers applying for an Initial Issue or Renewal of a Maritime NZ STCW or STCW-F medical certificate must see a Maritime NZ Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP)

    Initial Issue:

    • Seafarers applying for initial issue of Medical Certificate for Deck Duties must see a Registered Optometrist and complete the eyesight report PRIOR to their medical assessment

    • The NZ Maritime STCW Medical Certificate is acceptable for use as equivalent to the MCA ENG1

    • It has been assessed as meeting international requirements and can be used on UK ships in place of the ENG1 medical

    • Please find link below for publication of medical certificate equivalency and list of countries covered under this scope of this arrangement

    • Our clinic is accredited to conduct Australian Maritime Medical Authority (AMSA) Assessments

    • AMSA Medical Certification is conducted on behalf of Sonic Health Plus

    • Please contact us for more information if you are requiring an AMSA medical issued in New Zealand

  • Issuance of Employment Medicals for the MSC Group

Please get in contact with us prior to scheduling a Cruise Ship Medical due to the extensive nature of the assessment.
